Plans for a four-storey apartment block in Crewe still look to be going ahead, despite being granted planning permission over three years ago.

An 11-apartment block is planned on the corner of Edleston Road and Brook Street, previously submitted by Premier Living Homes, who have since sold off the site.

Planning permission was granted by Cheshire East Council, six votes to five, on 29 June 2022, following a resubmission.

Approval came after previous plans were dismissed by the High Court following a judicial review earlier that year.

In June 2025, new applicant, Mr B. H resubmitted the plans again, along with a discharge of conditions for a dust management plan, water drainage scheme, 10 nesting birds and 20 ground levels.

This comes after the applicant submitted a dust management plan, topo plan. foundation plans, a bird nesting suvey and a surface water management report.

Plans remain the same, with only three car parking spaces being provided for the 11 apartments.

At the time, Crewe South Labour councillor (now Independent), Laura Smith, said: "I definitely want to see this site developed, but I just question what is acceptable, what we want to have there."

"Why are we not looking at bigger apartments that are affordable? I just don't buy the argument that people want to live in cramped accommodation.

"I am not enthused by this. Parking is an issue, the size of the accommodation is an issue and I think the ambition for Crewe needs to be much, much higher."

The last date for submitting comments is Tuesday 29 July, with a target decision date of Thursday 7 August.
