Former Crewe taxi office given green light for conversion into flat
Plans to convert a former Crewe taxi office into a new self-contained flat have been approved - several years after it closed down.
Cheshire East Council approved Meakes Properties Ltd application to convert the former Mikro Taxis office, Victoria Street, into a self-contained flat on Friday 21 April.
This change of use proposal will see the front of the Crewe property elevated with new double glazed windows.
The ground floor will be converted to include a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room space and cycle storage.
A Cheshire East Council planning officer was satisfied with the proposals - believing the plans were "acceptable."
A statement read: "The principle and design of the proposal are considered acceptable.
"No material impacts on amenity are anticipated.
"The proposal is in general accordance with the relevant policies of the Development Plan.
"The application is recommended for approval subject to conditions."
Mikro Taxis was a well-used taxi service - claiming to once offer the 'cheapest fares in Crewe.'
The company was bought out by Westside Taxis in 2019 - leaving the Victoria Street office vacant.
