A former Crewe Alexandra manager and assistant manager have temporarily taken charge of a Premier League side - following the dismissal of their head coach.
Wolverhampton Wanderers sacked Bruno Lage yesterday (October 2) - after just one win from the first eight league matches.
The club immediately announced former Crewe Alexandra manager, Steve Davis, and assistant boss, James Collins, would prepare the team for their next match.
57-year-old Davis, played for Crewe as a defender between 1983 and 1987.
After managing Northwich Victoria and Nantwich Town, Dais returned Crewe as assistant manager.
In November 2011, he was appointed the club's manager. He won League Two promotion and the Johnstone's Paint trophy within 18 months of being in charge.
Following years of struggle, Davis was sacked by Crewe in January 2017.
Three years later, Davis became U18 head coach for Wolves.
Former Crewe assistant manager, James Collins, had a 32-year association with the Alex.
Collins played 30 times for Dario Gradi during the club's Championship years.
The former player became Crewe's assistant manager under Steve Davis in 2015.
Collins then returned to the academy when Davis was replaced by David Artell in 2017.
The 44-year-old remained at Crewe until December 2019 - joining Wolves as an Under-23 Development Squad coach.
Davis and Collins will now prepare Wolves for a Premier League encounter away to Chelsea on Saturday (October 8).
Wolves confirmed the sacking of Lage and the temporary appointment of Davis and Collins on its club website yesterday.
Wolves chairman, Jeff Shi, said: "Bruno is an excellent coach, a hardworking and dedicated manager, and a warm, wise and honest man.
"He and his staff have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at Wolves, so it is with much sadness that we have had to make what has been a difficult decision.
"I honestly have no doubts about Bruno's ability, and I'm sure he will succeed elsewhere, however the team's form and performances over the last few months mean that we have no choice but to act.
"On behalf of everyone at Wolves, I would like to place on record our gratitude to Bruno and his coaching team for all their efforts during their time with the club, and wish them the very best for the future."
Davis and Collins temporarily take charge of a side currently 18th in the Premier League.
