Cheshire East is currently considering five applications to change the use of dwelling houses in Crewe into children's homes.

Four of the properties, two on Hope Street and two on Adelaide Street, will be operated by Homes for Support.

If planning permission is granted, all four of these houses will be occupied by one child and two live-in staff members.

A planning statement submitted by Broadgrove Planning and Development says: "The external of the building will remain as that existing.

The fifth application for change of use to a children's home is from Peter Rowlinson for a house on Ruskin Road (Google).

"The internal of the building will observe minor changes, only those necessary to facilitate the associated use."

This is the case for all four properties.

The fifth application for change of use to a children's home is from Peter Rowlinson for a house on Ruskin Road.

Again no external alterations to the building are proposed.

A planning statement submitted by Planning By Design says the proposal is to change the use of the building to a children's home for two children aged eight to 18 years.

It says: "They would be looked after by two carers sleeping overnight on a rota basis.

"As such, carers would operate on a shift pattern of 48 hours on, 96 hours off.

Two of the children's homes will be located on Hope Street (pictured), with another two on Adelaide Street, operated by Homes for Support (Google).

"Other than changeover times, there will be no more than two carers in the premises at any one time.

"There would be one changeover of the overnight care staff per day."

It adds: "Under the requirements of Ofsted, such care homes must be run as closely as possible to a typical family household, while accepting staff are employed on a rota basis to provide the parental support to children that many have missed in their early years."

The applications can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website.
