Fitness charity set to celebrate achievements of local heroes at luxury Crewe venue

A local fitness charity is set to celebrate the achievements of local heroes at luxury Crewe venue this year - with nominations now open.

Everybody Health and Leisure's Everybody Awards are making a return on Friday 13 October at Crewe Hall Hotel & Spa, Weston Road .

The Everybody Awards is an annual celebration recognising the achievements of local heroes in a sport, physical activity or health and wellbeing setting in Cheshire East.

There are a wide variety of awards up for grabs at Everybody Health and Leisure's Everybody Awards - held at Crewe Hall (Alissa Cook-Gray).

Categories include:

Sports Personality of the Year:

  • Are you or do you know a sports person who is an inspiring example, someone who pushes themselves to the limit to achieve in their given sport/s?
  • This category is open to all, who simply love their sport and are achieving amazing things, whether that's competing at a local, regional, national, or international level.

Community Initiative of the Year:

  • Are you or aware of an initiative that is providing opportunities to those in greatest need? Have you created or developed a sports, physical activity or innovative project, that has impacted positively on a community or persons physical or mental wellbeing?
  • This could be, but not limited to, a school, sports club, local organisation or community group or an individual.

Community Champion of the Year:

  • Do you know someone who is inspiring our communities to become physically active, reduce social isolation or improve overall health and wellbeing? This could be, but not limited to, a teacher, coach, parent, instructor, social prescriber or activator.
  • Anyone making a difference in their community who deserves to be recognised for their support and dedication.

The Everybody Awards is an annual celebration recognising the achievements of local heroes in a sport, physical activity or health and wellbeing (Everybody Health & Leisure).

Unsung Hero Award:

  • Do you know someone who has given their time to a local community group, sports club, volunteer organisation to ensure that they can provide their services to as many people as possible? We all know an amazing person who goes above and beyond and deserves to be recognised for the time they give.
  • This could be, but not limited to, a volunteer, a grounds person, parent and coach who supports local clubs during or outside of sessions. Health champion, a person championing a health cause or a buddy supporting people to access key services.

Diversity and Inclusion Award:

  • A person or organisation/club that has ensured that people of all abilities and backgrounds have been given the opportunity to access ways to improve their wellbeing through sports or activity initiatives. This could be, but not limited to, a school, sports club, local organisation or community group.
  • As well as recognising and awarding this year's Everybody Customer Hero, Lifetime Achievement Award and Chairman's Award.
  • Everybody Health and Leisure are delighted to announce that the fantastic Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Paralympic Athlete and crossbench peer, is returning to host the Awards for 2023. Tanni has had an incredible career, with 16 Paralympic medals to her name, 11 of which are gold and 12 world championship medals.

Baroness, Tanni Grey-Thompson, spoke on her excitement of hosting the Crewe event again.

She said: "I'm so pleased to be returning to the Everybody Awards this October.

Baroness, Tanni Grey-Thompson will be hosting the Everybody 2023 awards (Everybody Health & Leisure).

"I was truly inspired by the heroes and commitment to sporting achievement at the 2022 awards and I can't wait to meet this year's finalists.

"The last couple of years we've seen incredible community spirit and innovation in times of uncertainty and this year's awards will be another opportunity to celebrate and take a look back at the successes during the last year."

Previous winners include, Olympic swimmer, Poppy Maskill, for Sports Personality of the Year, England squash coach, Chris Ogden, for Coach of the Year and Alyson Walker for Customer Hero.

Everybody's CEO, Thomas Barton, was "excited" by the upcoming 2023 awards.

He added: "The evening is a great way to celebrate the achievements of our fantastic local community and recognise the hard work that they do every single year.

Nominations for the 2023 awards are now open and close on Sunday 9 July (Everybody Health & Leisure).

"This year we are excited to introduce new award categories and we are looking forward to reading everyone's inspiring nominations."
