First phase of new Crewe affordable housing scheme completed
The first phase of new affordable homes in Crewe have been delivered, under a deal between Castle Green Partnerships and Torus.
Work to create 110 affordable new homes at The Blossoms on Flowers Lane, started in June 2023.
The overall 53-acre site benefits from reserved matters planning approval for 400 homes.
Further phases of the development will see an additional 94 homes delivered for Torus, alongside 196 private sale properties to be built and sold by Castle Green Homes.
Partnerships director, Eoin O'Donnell, said: "Handing over the first eight homes in Crewe to Torus marks a key point in our partnership as we work together to provide much needed affordable homes in the town.
"This scheme is a prime example of how the partnerships model is tackling the housing shortage and providing high quality, energy efficient new homes.
"Partnerships like this will be key if the Government is to achieve its target of building 1.5 million homes over the next five years."
Torus Homes will be selling 83 family homes on the development through shared ownership.
The first phase of homes is now available to reserve, with prices starting from £92,000 for a 40 per cent share.
The other 27 homes will be available through affordable rent.
Director of development and technical at Torus, Steve Alcock, said: "The completion and handover of the first homes at The Blossoms mark a significant milestone in our aspirations to deliver affordable homes in Cheshire East.
"This new community will add to the continued evolution of Crewe, supported by the new highway network locally and expansion of Leighton Hospital."
