FIREFIGHTERS were called out to put out a waste fire and an out-of-control bonfire.

Two engines from Crewe Fire Station attended in Hightown where they found a large fire involving a quantity of waste outside a commercial premises.

They used a hose reel jet and then a large fan to clear smoke that had gone into a nearby building.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and there were no reports of any injuries.

Later yesterday afternoon one engine from Crewe went to Clay Lane in Haslington where officers put out a small bonfire in a field.
