FIREFIGHTERS doused a blaze which engulfed a car in Aldersey Road last night.

One fire engine from Crewe attended the scene at around 10.50pm. They found a hatchback well alight.

A firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet.

The crew then damped the car down to make it safe, with temperatures monitored using a thermal imaging camera.

The fire crew was in attendance for more than half-an-hour.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault."
