A famous Crewe musician known for 90s dance smash "Sunchyme" and many other hits has been diagnosed with stage four rectal cancer - following a shock announcement on social media.
Paul Spencer rose to fame in 1997 as part of the Cheshire dance trio, Dario G, named after former Crewe Alexandra manager, Dario Gradi.
Paul along with Scott Rosser and Stephen Spencer, hit the big time with debut single "Sunchyme" - reaching number two on the UK Singles Chart.
Dario G peaked at number five with follow-up single, "Carnaval de Paris." 2001 single, "Dream To Me" also reached number nine in the UK.
Rosser and Stephen Spencer later left to pursue other projects leaving Paul to perform in a solo capacity - keeping the title "Dario G."
On Wednesday 21 June, Paul gave a shock social media statement, announcing he had been diagnosed with stage four rectal cancer and a with a shadow on his liver.
Paul's statement read: "Hard to write this. I've just found out that I've got stage 4 rectal cancer and a shadow on my liver.
"That's damn hard to read too I'm sure. Gonna give it my best shot though.
"Stay positive, cos I am. Always.
"Seeing the doctors on Friday to discuss the next steps."
To this day, Paul has released 15 singles and three albums under" Dario G" with the most recent being "Hola" in June 2020.
"Sunchyme" is still regularly played at Mornflake Stadium on Crewe Alexandra match days.
