Visitors can expect a parade of the Giant Wheel from Autin Dance, accompanied by the community cast from Hopes & Beams and Camm Street Gymnastics.

There will be street and community live performances across the town centre, along with a JDL Mini Markets artisan market, and a Stanworth's Fairground on Queensway.

The Crewe Day Festival is a summer celebration of Crewe that has been created with the people of Crewe at its heart.

Crewe Day commemorates the anniversary of the first trains passing through Crewe Station, during the opening of the Birmingham to Manchester and Liverpool line on 4 July 1837.

In the run up to the Event Day on the Saturday, community activities and workshops will be facilitated by community organisations for the community cast taking part in the procession.

The attendees will have a go at Carnival Arts and learn dance and expressive movements that can be shown off during Saturday's parade.

JDL Mini Markets is hosting a Crewe Day Festival artisan market on Saturday 5 July (JDL).

A Crewe Town Council spokesperson told Nub News: "We are excited to launch this exciting vibrant annual cultural event for the first time, celebrating Crewe's rich culture, heritage and community.

"We are so pleased to see so much community participation in this event and hope that this is something that grows year on year! If you are interested in getting involved in Crewe Day there is still time, find the details on our website."
