A developer is offering retirees in Crewe a preview of what will become a new retirement community, on the site of a town centre music venue.

McCarthy and Stone want to demolish The Crozzy's existing buildings for a 51-apartment development, along with landscaping and new car park on Chester Street.

The developer has created a series of virtual tours to showcase the new development, subject to planning permission from Cheshire East Council.

The virtual tours, now available on the McCarthy Stone website, give prospective buyers the opportunity to take a tour around each of the apartments.

Exclusive to over 60s, McCarthy and Stone say the development will offer 51 "cost-effective and low-maintenance" retirement apartments.

The retirement properties will be exclusively available through McCarthy Stone's shared ownership scheme, in partnership with Homes England.

This offers a helping hand by reducing the upfront cost of a new retirement home, through providing a choice of ownerships up to 75 per cent.

Business development manager at McCarthy Stone, Declan Fishwick, told Nub News: "We are excited to share that McCarthy Stone has submitted a planning application to increase the choice of more affordable retirement housing in Crewe.

The Crozzy, Chester Street, is set to permanently close this summer (Ryan Parker).

"These virtual tours aim to give homebuyers an early view of what to expect from a McCarthy Stone development.

"Our purpose-built, specialist properties provide the opportunity for people to make the most of their retirement, and to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible, with peace of mind that help is nearby.

"We are expecting high demand, so would urge those interested to visit our website and register their interest as soon as possible."

McCarthy and Stone promise the Crewe town centre retirement complex will have "well-maintained" communal spaces, a large lounge area and landscaped gardens.

A house manager will be on-site during office hours to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Exclusive to over 60s, McCarthy and Stone say the development will offer 51

If approved, apartments will include a 24/7 emergency call system, intruder alarms, fire detection and a door camera entry system as standard.
