Plans to convert old Crewe town centre office space into four new apartments have been given prior approval, confirmed by Cheshire East Planning on Wednesday (October 30).

This September, applicant, Mr. Jack Bispham, of Panther Properties Limited, applied for a change of use to residential on Market Street.

These plans affect the first and second floors above the former CopyCatz Tattoos and Cloud Chasers shops, with the former recently relocating to 257 Edleston Road.

Both retail units below this Crewe town centre apartment scheme will remain unaffected (Ryan Parker).

Mr Bispham will convert the upper two Market Street floors to accommodate four, one-bedroom single person flats.

He will also reinstate the front door, providing first floor access from the front and street level, as well as the further provision of bin storage to the rear.

This summer, the buildings were repainted on the outside, improving their visual appearance within the town centre.

A Cheshire East planning officer was satisfied, saying: "This is not a planning application, but an application for the determination as to whether prior approval is required for the conversion of this three-storey office building to form one residential dwelling.

"All units would be one bedroom, with one single bed space and would have shower rooms rather than bathrooms, therefore requiring a minimum floorspace of 27 square metres.

"The proposed apartments would all have a floorspace greater than 37 square metres, ranging from 39.6 square metres to 42.1 square metres.

Mr Bispham will convert the upper two Market Street floors to accommodate four, one-bedroom single person flats (Cheshire East Planning).

"The proposal is deemed to adhere with all requirements, subject to conditions. As such, prior approval is required and approved."

Both retail units below this Crewe town centre apartment scheme will remain unaffected.
