Crewe to host free quiz night honouring Egghead Chris Hughes

Crewe will come together on Thursday 25 September to celebrate the life of local quiz legend Chris Hughes, one of TV's Eggheads, who sadly passed away earlier this year.
The free-to-attend quiz night at Crewe Market Hall will see four winning teams from August's weekly quizzes battle it out for the inaugural Chris Hughes Memorial Trophy, all while raising money for St Luke's Cheshire Hospice.
Starting at 7pm, special guests on the night will be Chris's fellow Eggheads, Kevin Ashman, Judith Keppel, Barry Simmons and Pat Gibson - some of the finest quiz minds in the country.

The evening, in conjunction with The Cat Radio and sponsored by AJM Comms of Nantwich, will also feature two raffles, including the chance to win a brand-new mobile phone.
Organisers are inviting the whole community to join in, enjoy the quiz, and help honour one of Crewe's most-loved quizzers, who passed away at his home in Crewe, aged 77, in February.
Famed for his appearances on the popular game show Eggheads from 2003 to 2023, Chris Hughes was a celebrated figure in the world of competitive quizzing.

Winner of Mastermind and International Mastermind in 1983, Mr Hughes was also crowned Brain of Britain in 2005.
Mr Hughes built a reputation as one of the most knowledgeable contestants in British quiz history.
