HIGHTOWN Tennis Club has told its members they no longer need to book in for their tennis fix as club sessions begin to thrive again.

A strict booking system has been in place at the Gainsborough Road tennis courts in Crewe after the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) gave the go-ahead for club tennis to return in June.

Doubles and singles matches were restricted to small group bookings up to a maximum of four before club sessions resumed towards the end of July.

Now the club says that as most members are now playing at these, the number booking courts at other times has reduced considerably.

Club President Bill Kynaston said: "We have decided that it is no longer necessary to book in advance, you can just turn up and play.

"However, for Track and Trace purposes we need to have a record of who is playing and when, so we want members to record the date, time and names of those playing on the sheet provided hanging in the toilet shed."

Hightown is reminding members that if anyone tests positive for Covid 19 they will need to inform Bill or any committee member immediately. Anyone showing symptoms of Covid 19 should also stay away from the club.

Club sessions at Hightown are: Wednesdays, starting at 5pm and running until September 30; Thursdays, from 10am to 12 noon, which are all year round; and Saturdays until October 31.

The pavilion remains locked, so members are being advised to bring their own seating and refreshments to all sessions.

All tennis at Hightown is for members only while the pandemic prevails. The club has waived its fee structure for existing members this year.
