A convenience store chain and petrol station in Crewe is currently closed for a full refurbishment, with works expected to be completed in early October.

Both the Tesco Express store and the Esso petrol forecourt, Tommy's Lane, have been closed since 5 September.

They are scheduled to reopen on Thursday 8 October.

Works at the site include the installation of new energy efficient fridges and freezers, along with a new overall store design.

A Tesco spokesperson told Nub News: "Our Crewe Arms Esso Express store is undergoing a refit to improve the shopping experience for customers and will be closed until October.

"Works include the installation of new energy efficient fridges and freezers and improvements to the overall design of the store.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused, and we look forward to welcoming customers back to the refreshed store after the works are completed."

Crewe's Tesco Express remains open on Crewe Road, Wistaston, with Tesco Extra also open on Vernon Way.
