A Crewe high school was locked down in response to intruders making their way on to school grounds, with all pupils "kept safe."

On Wednesday 19 March, Sir William Stanier School, Coronation Street, went into lockdown as "people," (former students), were reported on-site.

At 12.44pm, the school initiated lockdown procedure, with pupils remaining inside classrooms and offices with staff.

Sir William Stanier School has confirmed the lockdown was executed "effectively."

Following the lockdown, multiple students were picked up by parents.

Headteacher, Mrs Robinson, said: "At 12:44pm on Wednesday 19 March, Sir William Stanier went into lockdown in response to people on-site who were not a part of the staff or student body.

"The lockdown was effectively implemented and all students were kept safe with staff in classrooms and offices.

"The building has now been secured and the lockdown has lifted. The police have been notified.

"I understand that any event like this causes stress to all of our community.

Following the lockdown, multiple students were picked up by parents (Ryan Parker).

"I would seek to reassure you that, thanks to the swift actions of staff, students were kept safe at all times.

"I am extremely proud of the calm way that staff and students undertook our lockdown procedures."

Cheshire Police confirmed it had no involvement in the incident, only been notified once the situation had been resolved.

Officers attended Sir William Stanier School today (March 20), to speak to its leadership team.

Sergeant Matt Stonier, told Nub News: "Officers from the Crewe Beat management team attended at the school this morning and spoke with members of the SWS leadership team to better understand the circumstances around yesterday's incident.

"In summary, two young females who do not attend the school had managed to gain access after being assisted by a current pupil.

"The school's swift response ensured they were quickly identified and escorted off the premises.

"Police have since contacted the parents of those involved with no further action required."
