Crewe school locked down after intruders reported inside grounds

A Crewe high school was locked down in response to intruders making their way on to school grounds, with Cheshire Police "notified."

On Wednesday 19 March, Sir William Stanier School, Coronation Street, went into lockdown as "people,' not part of the pupil or staff body, were reported on-site.

At 12.44pm, the school initiated lockdown procedure, with pupils "kept safe" by staff inside classrooms and offices.

Sir William Stanier School has confirmed the lockdown was executed "effectively," with no reports of any major incident.

Following the lockdown, multiple students were picked up by parents.

It is understood police did not attend the incident.

Headteacher, Mrs Robinson, said: "At 12:44pm on Wednesday 19 March, Sir William Stanier went into lockdown in response to people on-site who were not a part of the staff or student body.

"The lockdown was effectively implemented and all students were kept safe with staff in classrooms and offices.

"The building has now been secured and the lockdown has lifted. The police have been notified.

"I understand that any event like this causes stress to all of our community.

Following the lockdown, multiple students were picked up by parents (Ryan Parker).

"I would seek to reassure you that, thanks to the swift actions of staff, students were kept safe at all times.

"I am extremely proud of the calm way that staff and students undertook our lockdown procedures."

Crewe Nub News has contacted Cheshire Police for comment.
