A high school in Crewe is aiming for UK chart success after releasing its very own Christmas single, available on all major streaming platforms.

St Thomas More Catholic High School, Dane Bank Avenue, released festive single 'Light Up' on Wednesday 13 December.

The song, which is about remembering lost loved ones, was written by the school's music teacher, Miss Stubbs, from Crewe.

Earlier this year, St Thomas More was ranked the second best high school across Cheshire in the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide (Ryan Parker).

Miss Stubbs, told Nub News: "The students are amazing, so polite and kind. It is a pleasure working with them every day. I want to show them big dreams are possible no matter who you are.

"This song is about remembering our loved lost ones at Christmas time. The people we wish were still with us.

"The lyrics say 'there will always be an empty chair for you'. We hope our loved lost ones know how much they are missed and that we still think about them every day.

"The inspiration from the song came as last year we were asked to perform at the Tree of Light Ceremony at Crewe Crematorium.

"I couldn't find a song that was suited to the occasion, remembering loved lost ones and the spirit of Christmas, so I decided to write one.

"We performed it in all of our concerts last year and I got a lot of positive feedback and people asking for the link to listen at home, but we didn't have a recording.
