Crewe high school ranked second best across Cheshire for 2023
A Crewe high school has been ranked the second best across Cheshire for 2023, the Sunday Times Parent Power Guide has reported.
St Thomas More Catholic High School, Dane Bank Avenue, came second to Wade Deacon High School, Widnes, for the best ranked Cheshire secondary schools this year.
The ratings of each institution are based on academic performance, including GCSE results, and A-level results at the schools that offer the qualification.
The number of 9, 8, 7, A* and A grades gained at GCSE have been calculated as a percentage of the total number of GCSE entries overall.
Seventeen secondary schools in Cheshire made the final shortlist of the best in the UK, with St Thomas More being ranked 23rd overall.
Departing head teacher, Clare Hogg, who had her final day with pupils on Thursday 20 July, reacted to the school's high ranking.
Mrs Hogg told Nub News: "Staff and pupils at St Thomas More Catholic High School are delighted that they continue as a beacon of excellence in Cheshire.
"With Catholic social teachings at the heart of our curriculum, we develop the future leaders of tomorrow, with our high expectations, care and aspiration.
"Thank you to all our parents and carers for their continued belief and support in the STM Way."
The next best ranked Cheshire school was Cransley school, Northwich, which came 39th nationally.
