Crewe restaurant site closes paving way for new Wetherspoon pub
By Ryan Parker 26th Jun 2026
Crewe's Farmhouse Beefeater restaurant has now closed down, pathing the way for Wetherspoon to return to the town this summer.
Shutting its doors for the final time on Wednesday 24 June, the Coppenhall Lane closure comes after Whitbread ceases all remaining Beefeater and Brewers Fayre UK sites, across around 200 locations.
Wetherspoon, has not had a branch in Crewe since January 2018, when The Gaffers Row, Victoria Street, closed to make way for demolition of the Royal Arcade site.
It is understood Wetherspoon will reopen the Crewe West site in mid-august, with all staff offered roles at the new pub.

As of June 2026, Wetherspoon has over 800 UK locations, with local sites in nearby Sandbach, Congleton, Northwich and Winsford.
Earlier this June, A Wetherspoon spokesperson exclusively told Nub News: "We can confirm that The Farmhouse (Crewe) has been sold to Wetherspoon.
"All staff will be offered roles at the new Wetherspoon pub.
"The pub will close for redevelopment."
