Crewe restaurant chain to close down after 30 years
By Ryan Parker 5th May 2026
A Crewe restaurant chain is set to close after more than 30 years of trading in the town.
The Farmhouse Beefeater, Coppenhall Lane, which opened in March 1996, alongside Premier Inn Crewe West, will cease trading in the near future.
This comes after operator, Whitbread, is closing its remaining Beefeater and Brewers Fayre UK sites, across around 200 locations.
Whitbread plans to replace its branded restaurants with integrated food and drink facilities for hotel guests.
Around 30,000 people still work across Whitbread's restaurant operations in the UK and Ireland.

Chief Executive, Dominic Paul said: "We plan to convert all our remaining branded restaurants to an integrated food and beverage offer that is preferred by our hotel guests and will unlock the addition of more highly profitable extension rooms.
"Our continued efforts to drive our commercial plan and efficiencies will extend our market-leading position and allow us to take share from our competitors, many of which are struggling to grow."
The Farmhouse Beefeater closure is intended to create space for additional hotel rooms In Crewe.
It follows the loss of The Brocklebank Brewers Fayre in July 2024.
Plans for the Weston Road site were submitted in August 2025, proposing demolition to expand the Premier Inn, adding 56 bedrooms.
Six existing rooms would be converted into a food facility for hotel guests, creating a net gain of 50 rooms.
Parking would also increase to 84 spaces.
These plans are still pending consideration.
