A Crewe pub is now closed until the summer, allowing for a major refurbishment and format change.

The Imperial, Edleston Road, closed on Tuesday 5 May, with current landlady, Stacey, and team departing the venue after their contract was significantly cut short by the brewery.

Punch Taverns has decided to change the style of The Imperial, with updated opening hours from 8am daily and big layout changes, including the creation of a 'games area.'

Stacey and the team, who ran the pub since 2025, but were part of it for almost a decade, hosted a closing party across the early May bank holiday weekend.

The Imperial said: "Come and party with us one last time before the doors close for weeks and opens as a whole new venue under new management."

It is understood The Imperial will remain closed until June/July, with Punch Taverns telling Nub News to "keep an eye on the pub's social media platform for any information" closer to the time.

When announcing their departure from The Imperial in April, Stacey and team said: "Thank you everyone for all your custom over the years.

"Thank you for your support and the motivation you have given us, thank you for the fun times, the events and being part of the lives you all lead in our venue.

"We have really enjoyed every moment of it, sadly it's been cut short. The venue will be closed when we leave for a refurb."
