Crewe restaurant and bar closes as owners relocate to North America
By Ryan Parker 1st Jul 2026
A Crewe restaurant and bar has closed after its owners announced they are moving overseas with their family.
Oden Lounge, High Street, ceased trading on Sunday 28 June under its current management after operating for around 20 months.
Operated by Opeyemi and Duduyemi Opaleye, the Nigerian couple said the decision had been one of the "hardest" they had made and was driven by a change in personal circumstances.
In a message to customers, Oden Lounge said: "Over the last 20 months, we have had the great pleasure of serving an incredible community of customers.
"We are deeply grateful to every single person who has walked through our doors and supported us along the way.

"Thank you, Crewe. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every visit, every celebration and every memory we shared.
"We are truly grateful for your unwavering support throughout this journey."
Opeyemi and Duduyemi originally moved to Crewe in May 2018, before moving to nearby Nantwich in 2021.
Their Crewe town centre restaurant and lounge officially opened in October 2024, with support from the Open in Crewe grant scheme.
Oden Lounge specialised in African cuisine, serving beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and mocktails. It remained open until 1am at weekends.
The High Street premises, which has a summer rooftop garden, is due to be taken over by a Crewe business later this July.
