Crewe residents are invited to come together in November to honour fallen servicemen and women at the town's annual Remembrance Sunday service.

The event will take place on Sunday 8 November at Memorial Square, with a parade featuring veterans, cadet organisations, uniformed services and schools.

Organised by Crewe Town Council in partnership with the Crewe branch of the Royal British Legion, the event is open to everyone, including families and children.

Parade participants are asked to gather at Lyceum Square by 10.15am, ahead of the parade setting off at 10.35am.

The procession will cross Lyceum Square before travelling along Heath Street towards Victoria Street, turning left onto Victoria Street and then left onto Earle Street before arriving at Memorial Square.

Spectators are welcome to line the route and watch the parade.

At 11am, the Last Post will be played before the traditional two-minute silence, allowing the community to reflect on those who lost their lives in conflict and remember the sacrifices made to protect their freedoms.

Wreath-laying at the Epitaph is scheduled for 11.15am, with civic and official wreaths followed by members of the public.

Final prayers and songs will take place at 11.35am.

Knitted poppies have also been appearing across Crewe town centre since October 21, thanks to Creative Crewe and volunteers who helped create the display.

Free parking for Blue Badge holders will be available at the new Library Car Park on Crewe Street, behind Memorial Square.

The car park will be reserved for Blue Badge parking on the day, apart from designated electric vehicle charging bays.
