Crewe Alexandra FC has raised over £2,300 for St Luke's Cheshire Hospice, after auctioning a limited run of 'Crewe Aleksandr' training gear.

The training gear was created as part of Compare the Market's takeover of League Two club, Crewe Alexandra F.C., for the opening weekend of the season, in celebration of its new landmark EFL (English Football League) partnership.

The players wore the training tops and jackets as part of the warmup ahead of the club's away fixture at Crawley Town, with the Crewe Aleksandr logo in pride of place.

Head of Commercial for Crewe Alexandra FC, James Beckett, said: "After seeing the Crewe Aleksandr branded training gear go down so well with our fans on social during the opening fixture, the charity auction felt like a no-brainer, giving people the opportunity to buy a piece of genuinely fun, history of the club.

"We hope the additional funds will support the charity in their important work."

As the club's nominated charity partner that also features on the front of their third shirt, St Luke's Cheshire Hospice will also receive an additional £1,000 donation from Compare the Market, taking the total to £3,309.64.

Director of Brand Marketing at Compare the Market, David Sandall, added: "It was a joy to work so closely with the whole Crewe community at the start of this season, from former and current players, right through to match-going fans.
