A Crewe pub has donated an "amazing" amount to a local charity, after hosting a number of special events in recent months.

The Imperial, Edleston Road, managed to raise £1500 for St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice, supporting people living with life-limiting illnesses.

Operated by Lauri and Nick Pass since 2017, The Imperial hosted fortnightly bingo nights to raise funds for St Luke's.

The Imperial exceeded its initial fundraising target of £1000 for St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice (Nub News).

The Edleston Road venue also donated money raised from its £1 New Year's Eve tickets, exceeding its initial £1000 target.

Joint-owner, Lauri Pass, told Nub News: "We did three bingo nights every other Wednesday before Christmas to raise funds, as well as donating our £1 New Years' Eve tickets and money from a raffle.

"We didn't expect to raise this much. Our initial target was £1000 and we are really happy to raise this amount.

"A lot more people in Crewe knew about St Luke's than I expected. We really appreciate anyone who came down and supported our fundraising efforts."

The Imperial is open until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights (Ryan Parker).

Based in Winsford, St Luke's Hospice covers the whole of Cheshire East.

Community fundraiser for St Luke's, Mandy Shaw, said: "We are so grateful to Lauri and all the regulars and supporters at The Imperial for their wonderful fundraising.

"We were delighted to welcome Lauri and her family to the hospice recently to receive their amazing donation of £1,500.

"The money they have raised will enable us to offer care and support to other local families, so thank you to everyone who came along and supported their events."
