Crewe pizza and kebab takeaway applies to serve and deliver alcohol

A Crewe pizza and kebab takeaway has applied for a license to serve and deliver alcohol from its premises, after reopening this spring.

This July, Mr Ekrem Canbolat, of Babylon, 61 Nantwich Road, applied for a premises licence for his business.

The pizza and kebab joint reopened this April after closing in 2022 for a major refurbishment.

The Nantwich Road unit is in-between Asian Supermarket and William Hill (Nub News).

Babylon hopes to sell alcohol to go with its food, should the licensing committee accept the application.

Babylon's application reads: "NOTICE is hereby given that I, Ekrem Canbolat have applied on 28th July 2023 to Cheshire East Council in respect of the premises known as 61 Nantwich Road, Crewe, CW2 6AW for a premises licence to provide the following licensable activities:

  • Late Night Refreshment – Friday – Saturday – 23:00 – 01:00
  • Supply of Alcohol – Sunday – Thursday – 15:00 – 23:00, Friday – Saturday – 15:00 – 01:00

"Representations shall be made in writing to the below address on or before the following date: 25 August 2023."

The public can have their say on the proposed changes over the next 25 days (Babylon Takeaway).

Mr Canbolat told Nub News: "Our alcohol license will specifically apply to the sale of alcoholic beverages for takeaway and delivery orders.

"We want to ensure that you can enjoy our drinks in the comfort of your own home."

The public can make representations via post to The Licensing Section, Cheshire East Council, Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe, CW1 2BJ.

Babylon takeaway is open from 3pm to 11pm all week (and until 1am Friday and Saturday) (Babylon Takeaway).
