TODAY'S the day when town centres begin to open up on another key date on the roadmap out of lockdown.

You can have a haircut, go to the gym and catch up with friends in a beer garden.

Three lockdowns have taken away some simple pleasures we once took for granted, but things are changing in and around Crewe today (April 12).

What have you got planned beyond a trip to shops? Non-essential retail is permitted to reopen and major outlets on the Grand Junction Retail Park such as Sports Direct and Next were preparing to throw open their doors again for the first time in nearly four months.

The roadmap to reopening businesses and society has moved to stage two after the imposition of the most recent national lockdown before Christmas.

As well as non-essential shops, leisure centres and gyms, pubs and restaurants will also be reopening to serve customers outdoors for the first time this year.

How are you planning to make the most of the new rules!

Why no tweet us your plans @CreweNub or post on our Facebook page here.

Here is a more detailed guide to the new rules in England.

All shops can open

Hairdressers, beauty salons and other close-contact services open

Restaurants and pubs allowed to serve food and alcohol to customers sitting outdoors

Gyms and spas open along with theme parks, libraries and community centres

Members of same household can take a holiday in England in self-contained accommodation

Non-essential journeys between England and Wales permitted

Weddings for up to 15 people

Funerals for up to 30 people

Children will be able to attend any indoor children's activity

Care home visitors will increase to two per resident

Driving lessons can resume.

BUT remember indoor settings should be visited alone, or with household groups. Outside, six people or two households can meet.

By May 17 it is hoped among others

People can meet in groups of up to 30 outdoors

Domestic overnight stays allowed with people not in your household or bubble

Pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues can seat customers indoors

Up to 30 people can attend weddings or other life events, like christenings

Remaining outdoor entertainment, such as outdoor theatres and cinemas can open

Indoor entertainment such as museums, theatres, cinemas and children's play areas can open

Performances and large events can restart, but with limits on numbers

Hotels, hostels and B&Bs can reopen

By June 21

It is hoped all legal limits on social contact will be removed
