Crewe and Nantwich MP, Dr Kieran Mullan, has voted for Penny Mordaunt in the Conservative leadership contest - following the resignation of PM Liz Truss.
Ms Mordaunt is currently Commons leader.
She was briefly defence secretary under Theresa May and backed Brexit in 2016.
Dr Mullan voted for the 49-year-old Portsmouth North MP today (October 21).
In July, Ms Mordaunt was pipped by Liz Truss to reach the members' ballot - by just eight votes.
Currently, Rishi Sunak is leading the race for PM. Boris Johnson is second, with Mordaunt in third.
Contenders have until 2pm on Monday (October 24) to find 100 backers.
If three reach the threshold, Conservative MPs will knock out one contender in a ballot on Monday.
MPs will hold an "indicative" ballot of the final two.
The winner will be decided in an online vote of party members, to finish next Friday (October 28)
Crewe Nub News has contacted Dr Mullan why he decided to vote for Ms Mordaunt.
