The architecture firm which designed one of Crewe Market Hall's latest eateries - has won an award.

ICI Architecture won in the 'Construction and Building Services Start-Up' Midlands category at the annual 'StartUp Awards National Series'.

Architectural Technologist Jordan Kirkham (26) founded the award-winning business, who have multiple local clients.

"I was very surprised on the win, there was other companies that were bigger or equally publicising a lot larger revenues," explained Jordan.

"All companies had to be within the three year category mark, and all the other contenders had more staff than us too.

"But winning this award for ICI now means we can build even more credibility, and it shows to clients the fruits of our labour.

"We also now have a view of expanding, possibly taking on more Architectural Technologists to assist with new enquiries we are getting through. And there's now potential to hire more Admin Support as well.

"Thank you to my three staff for their work in helping achieve this award."

Founded in November 2020, the architecture business design houses, malls, restauraunts and tourist attractions.

Jordan's most recent local project was designing the interior and exterior for new Indian eatery Bombaye Junction, which is located inside Crewe Market Hall.

"Crewe Market Hall is my favourite thing about Crewe, said Jordan.

"How much it has changed in such little time is just phenomenal.

"Crewe has been growing for quite some time, and the fact the Market Hall has allowed all these international food and drink offerings, it is starting to create a community vibe.

"We were delighted to be approached from Crewe Market Hall to assist with one of the units that became vacant.

"We then sat down with Robby of Bombaye Junction and started to formalise a brief.

"The key points were to make the most of the tight space, but equally trying to entice customers through the freshness of all the dishes being made on site, so injecting different herbs and spices into the space to naturally encourage people to be drawn closer to the stand.

"The biggest challenge of creating the vision for Bombaye Junction was how small the space was, but my favourite part was problem solving and striking that balance of being operational, but also best displaying the products for people and marketing the vendor accordingly."

"It was the first Indian food business we've ever done. They were a really great client to work with, the quality of their dishes are exception.

"Restauraunts are a huge chunk of our business. Food and beverage related businesses take up about a quarter of our overall clients.

"Overall, It is great to see Crewe Market Hall back on it's feet again, and play a small part in making all the once-empty units being filled out.

"Even when you go down on weekdays it is very busy which is excellent."

ICI Architecture have an office in Congleton on 3 Chapel Street. But also let their team work from home.

Alongside Crewe Market Hall, Jordan has many Cheshire clients, as well as ones from all over the world, both of which will increase now that ICI Architecture have won a national award.

"We've completed 132 projects this year", added Jordan.

"For the next couple years, we're set to start a company which creates product placement in the metaverse, and hopes to work with local manufacturers.

"I will also keep running our side business Designology Group which creates sustainable interior design for offices."

Jordan's new business is now entering two more national award categories, following this latest success.
