A Crewe man has been jailed for 11 years, after being found guilty of raping and assaulting a woman with a knife at her home in Runcorn.

Scott Lindsay, of Nantwich Road, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 10 November, where he was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The 55-year-old has previously pleaded not guilty to rape and assault, but was found guilty by a jury during an earlier trial.

The court heard Lindsay visited the victim's address in Runcorn on Saturday 8 April, 2023, assaulting her after she refused to give money for drugs.

A day later, Lindsay approached the victim in a vehicle and proceeded to threaten to kill her.

Following this, the victim reported the incident to Cheshire Police, who launched a full operation into the incident.

During the investigation, the victim disclosed a historic report where Lindsay had forcibly raped and assaulted her.

The court also heard Lindsay had also threatened her with a knife, grabbing her hair and cutting her on the chest.

Lindsay was arrested and subsequently charged with rape and assault by penetration.

Detective Sergeant Whitfield, of Runcorn CID, said: "Scott Lindsay frequently assaulted and forcibly raped the victim, despite the fact that the she had told him multiple times that she did not want to have sex and repeatedly told him to stop.

"His actions have left her emotionally scarred as a result.

"While it was not easy for the victim to re-live her experiences in court, thanks to her bravery and courage, and the weight of the evidence she provided, Lindsay is now behind bars and facing the consequences for his actions.
