Crewe man pleads guilty to common assault of emergency worker following disturbance

A 38-year-old Crewe man has pleaded guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and one account of causing criminal damage - following his arrest in the town last week.

David Evanson, of Barn Croft Road, appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (August 9).

The Crewe man pleaded guilty to common assault of an emergency worker, one account of affray and one account of criminal damage to a property - under the value of £5,000.

David Evanson was arrested on Sunday (August 7), following a disturbance on the roof of a Middlewich Street property (Liam Kelly).

Evanson pleaded not guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

He also pleaded not guilty to assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm. 

There were more accounts of criminal damage to property, under the value of £5,000, he pleaded not guilty to.

The 38-year-old was arrested on Sunday, (August 7), following a disturbance on the roof of a Middlewich Street property - first reported around 3.10pm.

Evanson was charged with causing criminal damage, assault of an emergency worker, affray, further assault and causing unnecessary suffering to a proved animal (police dog).

David Evanson will appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 28 September (Crewe Nub News).

Today (August 11), a Warrington Magistrates' spokesperson told Nub News: "The defendant has been remanded in custody and has an application for bail on Thursday 18 August 2022.

"His trial will take place at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 28 September 2022."

During the disturbance, Cheshire Police closed off Middlewich Street and surrounding areas for a number of hours while they dealt with the incident.

During the incident, local residents were urged to stay inside for their own safety.

A large group of onlookers remained outside to watch what was happening.
