Crewe man arrested following assault of woman in Cheshire town

A Crewe man has been arrested on suspicion of assault of a woman, following an incident in a Cheshire town last month.

On Saturday 23 September, a woman was walking along Station Road, Alsager, when she was approached by a man who began to follow her.

At 7pm, a man driving past at the time stopped his car to assist the victim.

A woman was allegedly assaulted by a 40-year-old Crewe man on Station Road, Alsager (Wikimedia Commons).

She was able to get into the vehicle, but was assaulted by the suspect.

A 40-year-old man from Crewe has since been arrested on suspicion of assault and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

PC James Hughes said: "I would urge anyone who saw this incident, to contact police if you haven't done so already.

"The same goes for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage."
