A Nantwich Road hotel is targeted to reopen to the public this spring, after its use as asylum seeker accommodation comes to an end.

The Crewe Arms Hotel, Nantwich Road, will to open its doors again on Monday 20 April.

The Home Office is operating under a 'Full Dispersal model' under Labour, meaning accommodations will be spread across local authorities evenly, aiming to ensure no area has an undue burden on public resources.

All asylum seekers will be relocated to alternative suitable sites, and where possible, to more appropriate dispersed accommodation.

In February, Crewe MP, Connor Naismith, urgently called on the Labour government to bring the asylum hotels arrangement in Crewe to an end.

Both The Crewe Arms Hotel and The Royal Hotel, Nantwich Road, have been housing asylum seekers, with the latter occupying refugees since 2022.

Multiple protests and counter-protests took place outside the hotels, located on the doorstep of Crewe Railway Station, in 2025.

On its website, The Crewe Arms Hotel say: "Bookings are now open for stays from 20 April 2026 onwards." This date has also been confirmed to Nub News.

Reacting to the hotel's reopening, Mr Naismith told Nub News: "This is good news for all members of our community, including those housed in the Crewe Arms.

"The previous government's decision [Conservative] to repurpose hotels in the hearts of our community to house those seeking asylum was a resounding failure on all fronts.

"I welcome this Labour government keeping true to its promise to end this policy and the £9 million a day hotel waste that comes with it.

"I will continue to make representations to the Home Office to ensure the scheme which follows delivers value for the taxpayer, fairness to our local community, and safety for those seeking refuge here."
