Crewe Heritage Centre likely to stay shut this year - volunteers and staff will spend time on maintaining displays

CREWE Heritage Centre has confirmed it is 'unlikely' to open again this year.
In mid-March the popular visitor attraction announced that, due to the coronavirus outbreak, it would not be opening for the start of this year's seven-month season in April.
Updates on the centre's website and social media have remained optimistic, stating that the opening was postponed and there would be a phased reopening 'as soon as it is possible' while ensuring the safety of team members and visitors.
"We are looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the heritage centre....
"We're currently reviewing all our facilities and attractions to ensure they are 100 per cent safe to use, we will update this policy as soon as our plans are finalised," says the website.
But Mike Lenz, manager of the centre owned by Crewe Heritage Trust and operated by supporters, told Crewe Nub News: "It is unlikely that the centre will reopen before 2021.
"We are using the down time to undertake maintenance of infrastructure and exhibition displays while we have the opportunity and better weather."
2020 Season Pass holders will have this extended to cover the entire 2021 season. A new card will be sent out automatically in January.
The centre team is also encouraging rail enthusiasts to support the running of the museum and future events by becoming a member.
Membership starts from £7, with family, corporate and group options available.
