CREWE Heritage Centre has confirmed it is delaying reopening in the aftermath of the government's brake on lockdown easing.
Trustees at the town centre museum and railway experience had planned to throw open the gates again on Saturday, July 3.
But with social distancing still in place until at least July 19 they say that with "great sadness" they have decided not to reopen until Saturday, July 31 at the earliest.
They said in a statement: "We will continue to monitor the advice from both central and local government and we understand that factors outside of our control could mean that this date may need to be pushed back further.
"But as always the safety of our visitors, volunteers and other team members is our upmost priority.
"Our team members are still working hard behind the scenes."
The Heritage Centre in Vernon Way scrapped its 2020 season, opting to stay shut even after lockdown was eased last summer
Covid-secure measures, such as one-way systems, will be in place to keep both visitors and team members safe when the reopening does take place.
All season tickets bought for the 2020 season have already been rolled over to include the remainder of 2021, but also all of 2022.
You can buy a 2021/2022 season pass at the centre's online shop here.
