Crewe friends complete '12 Dips of Christmas' challenge for Cancer Research UK
Two friends from Crewe have completed the '12 Dips of Christmas' challenge for Cancer Research UK, raising vital funds for the charity.
Billy Ledwards and Craig Baller have raised over £1250 by taking cold-water dips on 12 days over the Christmas period.
The friends entered waters at Alderford Lake, Astbery Mere and Llanberis Lake, with temperatures varying between two and four degrees celsius.
Craig's dad has liver cancer and is currently undergoing treatment. Billy's family have also been affected by cancer in the past.
The pair wanted to raise 'vital' funds for Cancer Research UK, smashing their original target of £150.
Craig told Nub News: "We stayed in the waters for around 60 seconds, it was literally freezing.
"There were people walking past saying we were mad.
"After leaving the the water we couldn't feel our toes and our bodies shaking. It took about half hour to feel normal again.
"It was horrendous, but knowing we have raised a lot of money for something so important is all that matters."
