A popular Crewe fisheries has announced its on-site shop will permanently close this summer, with five staff told they are losing their jobs.

Fishing Republic Crewe, located at Lakemore Fisheries, Clay Lane, Haslington, will shutter no later than August 25 this year.

Lakemore Fisheries was notified of the upcoming shop closure on Tuesday 18 March, with staff members Nick, Matt, Hooky, Dave and Pete told the "terrible" news.

Lakemore Fisheries remains a popular fishing destination in South Cheshire (Lakemore Fisheries).

Members of Lakemore Fisheries will continue to receive "great" discounts in store until closure, with "further offers" becoming available across the next five months.

Lakemore Fisheries said: "It is with huge regret that I need to inform you all of some sad news.

"Our on-site shop Fishing Republic Crewe is closing, the date we have been given for closure is August 25, 2025 (this may happen sooner dependant on stock).

"As many of you are already aware Lakemore members receive a great discount in store, this will continue to be the case until such time as they close down,

"With your Lakemore discount, your Go Outdoors discount card and further offers becoming available over the next few months, you are looking at saving massive amounts on loads of great products.

"More importantly though, our thoughts are of course with the lads who work in the shop, Nick, Matt, Hooky, Dave and Pete, who were all told the terrible news they are losing their jobs.

"Many of the lads have been an integral part of the shop/site and Lakemore fisheries expansion for more years than i can remember.

Fishing Republic Crewe is open 9am to 5.30pm (Monday to Saturday) and 9am to 3pm (Sunday).
