Crewe firefighters douse blazes in chimney and wheelie bin

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

FIREFIGHTERS in Crewe were called out to put out blazes in a chimney and wheelie bin last night.

One crew went to a property in Crewe Road in Shavington just after 9pm and found a wooden beam above a fireplace was well alight.

They used one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames which had spread from the chimney flu.

Fire officers used a thermal imaging camera to check the area for hotspots before leaving.

The second call-out later in the evening was to open land at Middlewich Street where a wheelie bin well alight and the crew were there for a short time extinguishing the flames.
