Two new Crewe craft beer bars have won a local award - celebrating the best new real ale outlets in the area.

Ebenezer's Crewe, Nantwich Road and The Crewe Dog, Crewe Market Hall won CAMRA's South Cheshire 'new outlet for real ale' award.

The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), is considered to be one of the most successful consumer organisations across Europe.

CAMRA is an independent voluntary organisation, headquartered in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Manager of The Crewe Dog, Louis Delaney, holding the 'new outlet for real ale' award on March 24 (Louis Delaney).

Founded by four real ale enthusiasts back in 1971, CAMRA tries to represent beer drinkers and pub-goers across the UK.

With just under 160,000 members, CAMRA is the largest single-issue consumer group in the UK.

The organisation presents a number of awards for beers and pubs, such as 'National Pub of the Year' and Champion Beer of Britain.'

The winners are decided by either a ballot or a panel of judges.

This particular award handed out to the two Crewe beer businesses, celebrates the best new beer establishments in South Cheshire.

Ebenezer's Crewe opened on Nantwich Road in October 2021, an expansion to Ebenezer's Castle Street, Nantwich.

The store specialises in modern and traditional beer, artisan gins, spirits and serving Momentum Wines.

Ebenezer's replaced former craft beer bar BeerDock, which closed in the same unit back in 2020.

Ebenezer's expanded from Castle Street, Nantwich to Nantwich Road, Crewe in October 2021 (Ebenezer's Crewe).

The beer bar was presented with the South Cheshire CAMRA 'new outlet for real ale' award on April 9.

Manager of Ebenezer's Crewe, David Atwood, told Nub News: "Here at Ebenezer's we're passionate about beer and people.

"To receive any praise or recognition, from like minded people or organisations, is always a great feeling but it's not why we do what we do.

"The team feel blessed to have their hard work recognised and have placed the certificate in pride of place.

"Delivering great customer service and even better beer is what we strive for and for people to acknowledge that shows we're doing it right."

Another Crewe craft beer bar to win the South Cheshire CAMRA award was The Crewe Dog at Crewe Market Hall.

The Crewe Dog opened inside Crewe Market Hall in May 2021. It was the first business to sign up for the £3 million investment, at the very beginning.

Manager of The Crewe Dog, Louis Delaney, told Nub News: "It was great to see the work we are doing for the real ale community noticed by CAMRA. We really appreciate it."

The Crewe Dog launched inside Crewe Market Hall in May 2022 (Ryan Parker).

The Crewe Dog was presented with the award on March 24, less than a month before it expanded in Crewe Market Hall to open The Doghouse Craft Beer & Records store.

Both craft beer businesses have established themselves in Crewe alongside the competition of Tom's Tap & Brewhouse, Thomas Street, Hops Belgian Style Cafe Bar, Prince Albert Street and Craft Beer Oasis, High Street which also opened in 2021 (replacing BeerDock Tap 40).
