The Crewe and Nantwich MP has confirmed he will be standing at the next general election for the South Cheshire constituency - likely to take place in 2024.
Dr Kieran Mullan confirmed his decision on Tuesday evening (December 13) - with an announcement on social media.
The Conservative MP said he had to make his decision this month and had finally come to a set conclusion.
Dr Kieran Mullan said: "This month we had to decide if we wanted to stand at the next election which is likely to be in 2024.
"I have learnt a lot since becoming an MP in 2019. The country has been through a lot.
"I have learnt that there is a lot of hot air and rowing in politics, a lot of it unnecessary.
"Complex problems are made to seem simple as if there are easy answers when there aren't.
"I have learnt that there are simply too many problems out there for any one MP to fix or any one government.
"I have learnt that the negativity you see on social media doesn't reflect what most people think.
"But of course it is right that I ask myself-am I the right person for this job? Have I made a difference? That is what I am in this for, to make a difference.
"Party politics means I have to accept people judge me for not just where the government is successful, but where it isn't.
"You have to take that on the chin and accept that. I wish there was a perfect political party to be a part of, but there isn't.
"But it has been good to step back and reflect on my own record as an MP. You move from one thing to the next so quickly its easy to forget."
The Crewe MP went on to list some of his proudest achievements since being elected in 2019.
Two notable achievements of his were campaigning successfully for a £22.9 million Crewe Town Deal and a new £15 million A&E department at Leighton Hospital.
Dr Mullan was proud of kicking off a Crewe alleyway clean-up project, securing the future of HS2 for Crewe, andhelping drive forward the Crewe FC new football facility campaign.
The Crewe MP said he co-led a campaign for Crewe to get the GBR HQ - making the final six so far.
Dr Mullan has also campaigned successfully for Alstom to receive the HS2 bogey construction contract at Crewe Works.
The Conservative MP added: "I didn't achieve any of these things alone-all of them are achieved through working with others who often play a more important but less public role.
"I couldn't do my job without my office team either. But an MP can make a real difference and help get things over the line.
"Not just to see things through like the Crewe Town Deal, the Leighton Hospital new build campaign, the Crewe FC new football facility and more.
"But hopefully to go further and achieve even more."
During his time as MP so far, Dr Mullan says he has responded to more than 23,000 emails letters and phone calls from constituents.
Dr Mullan added: "I have decided that I will stand for re-election.
"Thank you to everyone who stops me on the street or in the shops and says keep up the good work. It means a lot.
"That is exactly what I am going to try and do."
