A children's home in Crewe has come under renewed scrutiny after inspectors found it continued to care for young people, despite being subject to regulatory restrictions intended to prevent further placements.

The home, operated by Amelia Care Ltd, has faced a series of concerns since opening, with inspectors citing issues relating to safeguarding, leadership, and management.

According to recent inspection findings, the provider was issued with a compliance notice and instructed not to accommodate children, yet inspectors reported placements continued.

In its findings, Ofsted said: "The provider has not complied with the suspension notice, having continued to provide care for children."

The regulator further warned: "Operating outside the legal framework for children's homes exposes children to the risk of harm due to a lack of oversight and potentially poor standards of care."

The home was originally the subject of planning discussions in 2023 when proposals were submitted to convert a property on Beech Drive, Wistaston, into a children's home.

Since opening, the provision has reportedly experienced a number of operational difficulties, culminating in regulatory intervention and suspension.

According to information contained in inspection reports, concerns were raised regarding the provider's ability to keep young people safe, as well as the effectiveness of leadership arrangements within the service.

Ofsted inspectors concluded that the situation "presents a significant risk of harm to any child placed in the home."

In the previous inspection of the Crewe children's home (8 October, 2025), Ofsted rated the residential care facility 'good.'
