Three wins for Crewe CC as 1st XI registers first NSSC League success

THREE-WICKET hauls apiece from Martin Webb and Martin Dawson helped Crewe to their first success of the season.

The bowling pair helped dismiss visitors Wedgwood for 71 in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire League (NSSC) Division Three fixture at Crewe Vagrants.

With Webb and Dawson in form Wedgwood's last five wickets fell for 16 runs and the Vagrants breezed to victory passing their target in 16.5 overs (76-3) with Jamie Broadhurst top scoring with 24.

Crewe's seven-wicket victory saw them collect 15 points and they currently lie fifth in the table.

Crewe's 2nd XI also enjoyed success on the second weekend of a shortened campaign as they skittled JG Meakin's 4th XI for 49 and knocked out their small target for the loss of two wickets. Calum Meakin and Conor Howard both took three wickets and Josh Allman top scored with 23 in the eight-wicket Division Eight win in Staffordshire.

And Crewe's 3rd XI made it a hat-trick of wins with a Sunday success over Hanford's 3rd XI in the Wildblood Cup. They had their hosts all out for 91 in 28.3 overs and then Daniel Starnes was unbeaten on 42 with Crewe needing only 12.5 overs to chalk off the the runs (95-1).
