Crewe car blaze put out by 'passing motorist' following incident on A500

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were stunned to discover a car fire in Crewe was put out by a "passing motorist," following an incident on the A500.

At around 7:46pm, One fire engine from Alsager arrived at the scene.

Firefighters discovered a passing motorist had already put out the car blaze on the A500, using a personal extinguisher (Nub News).

The crew checked the vehicle with a thermal imaging camera and cooled it using a hose reel jet.

No one was injured in the incident.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A car fire was reported.

No one was injured in the A500 car fire incident (Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service).

"When the crew arrived, they found a passing motorist had put out the initial fire using a personal fire extinguisher.

"The crew checked the vehicle with a thermal imaging camera and continued to cool it using a hose reel jet."
