Several organisations in Crewe and Nantwich will benefit from a share of Dan Price, Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner's £150,000 community fund.

Projects to receive support include initiatives helping people connect through shared activities and those giving young people positive outlets to build confidence, wellbeing and a sense of belonging.

More than 40 community projects across Cheshire will benefit through the Commissioner's SWAP Fund – Safety, Working Together, Action and Prevention.

The fund was originally set at £100,000, but after receiving almost three times as many applications as the previous round, Dan Price decided to increase the fund to £150,000.

The initiative supports grassroots projects tackling the issues residents care about most, from reducing anti-social behaviour to improving wellbeing and creating safe spaces for young people.

Among the Crewe and Nantwich groups to benefit from up to £5k each are:

• Crewe Men in Sheds – purchasing a new power tool to support woodworking projects that bring people together, promote creativity and reduce isolation
• Choose Your Story (Crewe) – delivering the Begin Again project to support vulnerable women through wellbeing workshops and emergency support bags
• Jabbin Dabber Boxing Club (Nantwich) – purchasing new weights and fitness equipment to expand youth training sessions and encourage positive, active lifestyles
• The Wishing Well (Crewe) – investing in sensory equipment and emotional regulation sessions for young people attending its youth clubs

Mr Price said: "Groups like Crewe Men in Sheds and Jabbin Dabber Boxing Club play a vital role in their communities.

"They bring people together, build confidence and help reduce isolation, strengthening community ties and making neighbourhoods safer and more connected.

"The quality and number of applications this year has been mind blowing. That is why I increased the SWAP Fund by £50,000, to make sure even more local projects can benefit and continue making a positive difference across Cheshire."

The fund is financed through the Proceeds of Crime Act, using money seized directly from criminals operating in Cheshire.

In total, Dan has now provided £350,000 to support community projects since his SWAP Fund started in September 2024.

Further funding will be released in 2026, offering new opportunities for community projects to apply for support.
