Crewe Alexandra have re-signed a former captain and academy graduate on a two-year deal, becoming the club's second summer signing.

Luke Offord, 26, has returned to Gresty Road on the free transfer after leaving MK Dons earlier this summer.

The centre back, who departed Crewe for The Dons in 2024, made 83 League Two appearances for the Buckinghamshire side in two years, scoring on six occasions.

Offord, who joined the Alex's academy as an Under-7 and mad 170 appearances in his first South Cheshire stint, skippered The Railwaymen to promotion in 2019/20.

Offord, who can also play at full-back or in midfield, played an influential role at MK Dons as they won automatic promotion to League One in May 2026.

Now he has become Lee Bell's second summer signing, following the capture of winger Jordan Gibson from Doncaster.

The centre back, who made 71 appearances over a two-year spell with the Railwaymen, has decided to move on in search of a new challenge after his contract expired.

Crewe Alexandra said: "Everybody at Crewe Alexandra would like to welcome Luke back to the club and wish him luck for the future.

"We would like to thank James for his hard work, professionalism and dedication during his time at The Alex, and for his contribution over the past two seasons.

"Everyone at Crewe Alexandra wishes James every success in the next chapter of his career."
