DAVE Artell says he wasn't impressed by the actions of Crewe skipper Perry Ng after the final whistle of Saturday's FA Cup tie at Cheltenham.

Ng was accused of spitting water at a member of the home side's backroom team following the Alex's defeat (1-2).

But Artell says the matter has been dealt with "internally" and he will move on, although he admitted: "I don't think either party, our player and their member of staff, will be happy with their actions."

The second round tie was televised live on the BBC iPlayer and the footage appeared to show no intent on the behalf of the Crewe captain who had previously shaken hands with several Cheltenham players before taking a swig from a water bottle and clearing his mouth.

But Cheltenham boss Michael Duff went on to condemn Ng in his post-match interview.

Artell explained: "Perry spat on the floor and their lad took exception to it. Then Perry took exception to being hurled abuse at close quarters.

"Neither should be impressed by their actions, however it was all a bit of a storm in a teacup. I don't think anything after that is worthy of note.

"Perry walks away and their lad walks away, or actually over to me to tell me exactly what has happened, but leaving large chunks out of it that he'd done.

"But we were in Michael Duff's office afterwards and there were no issues - it was all done and dusted as quickly as it started.

"It's been dealt with internally from my point of view."

More serious fall-out from the weekend cup exit was the serious injury picked up by Callum Ainley, who was forced off early on.

The attacker is due to go for a scan today to assess the extent of a hamstring tear and his manager admitted: "He'll be out for a while, it's not looking good."

Crewe will have to refocus quickly on League One action after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Portsmouth and Accrington.

Swindon are the visitors to Gresty Road tomorrow night (K.O 7pm) and Artell expects another hard assignment, particularly after John Sheridan's arrival at the County Ground to replace the Salford-bound Richie Wellens.

Swindon - promoted alongside Crewe last term - have moved up four places and are level on points with the Alex after winning two of their last three games.

"It is a home game which is a good thing as we've done more miles in the last month than Judith Chalmers," noted Artell.

"We know about Swindon, but they've got a new manager and he'll probably try one or two different things. They'll be reinvigorated; they were probably on the slide when Richie left with the culture of the club.

"John has come in and he is an experienced manager. He has obviously got a reaction from them and he has got plenty of resources to work with in terms of good players, so it will be a tough game."
