Crewe aerosol firm opens new goods warehouse
A CREWE aerosols firm has opened a new warehouse at Gateway to accommodate its expansion as well cope with Brexit supply issues.
Aztec Aerosols have replaced an old building, nicknamed the Cow Shed, at their site on Quaker Coppice with a state-of-the-art premises to store stock and cartons for recycling.
The firm is currently enjoying a boom in orders and has reported a 45 per cent growth year-on-year.
The building took 18 weeks to complete by Crewe-based structural engineers Pioneer Design and Build Limited.
With a total floor area of 661 square metres it can store a minimum of 1,500 pallets which caters for the company's expansion and need for extra storage space.
The warehouse has been coated with fire protection, includes a beamed fire alarm system provided by Lantern Fire and Security Limited and there are plans to landscape the site in the spring.
A company spokesperson said: "The land used to be rented out to Greenway Environmental who undertook waste and recycling operations on there.
"Back in 2008 we took it back although Greenway retained their office premises here and we used it for general outside storage, parking of our gas tanker. We also had a very old building on the perimeter, the Cow Shed, which we kept for storage and the rest of the area was used for parking.
"As the company has expanded and Brexit has caused supply issues we needed to hold larger quantities of dry stock for the benefit of our customers.
"We will also be able to use the area to store cartons, which we recycle for our customers."
Crewe Town Mayor Cllr Tom Dunlop attended the official opening of the new warehouse and cut a ribbon.
Aztec Aerosols moved to Crewe in 1999. Its automatic filling lines produce a range of aerosols, including line marking paints, glass cleaners, lubricants, degreasers, car products and industrial grade air fresheners and surface cleaners.
