Crewe's Salvation Army shop distributes Covid test kits

By Gwyn Griffiths 14th Apr 2021

CREWE'S Salvation Army branch is distributing home Covid-19 testing kits.

The kits can be collected from the charity's offices in Prince Albert Street between 1pm and 8pm as part of an initiative to expand local testing provision in the Cheshire East borough.

Health chiefs want to ramp up tests quickly as restrictions are eased to contain the virus - around one in three people who have coronavirus show no symptoms but are still able to transmit the virus.

There is also a click and collect service available by contacting 0300 123 5032 or postal orders can be sent out too.

Crewe is already piloting new symptom-free lateral flow tests at the Covid test centre in Chester Street in addition to symptomatic testing.

This dual-use trial - where residents can use a pre-booked service for both symptom-free and symptomatic testing at different times during the day - was launched on April 6 and runs until next Monday (April 19).

With 19 testing pods and a 500-test capacity it is the second largest testing facility in the North West.

You can find out more about your local testing options at Cheshire East Council's Covid-19 testing page here.
