KIND-HEARTED colleagues at The County Group are pulling out all the stops to support needy families across South Cheshire with a Christmas food collection at the company's Crewe headquarters.

Team members are collecting for St Paul's Pantry in Crewe which supports local families in crisis with emergency food parcels distributed through a network of local churches.

The insurance company, which employs more than 70 people on Crewe Business Park, staged a push for donations on Christmas jumper day and employees answered the call, turning up for work loaded with carrier bags of food.

Managing director Alastair Christopherson said: "St Paul's do sterling work supporting families and hopefully this effort will go some way to supporting those who struggle to put basics on the table and give them chance to enjoy a few indulgent luxuries this Christmas."

The County Group, founded in 2003, has grown to become a major employer of 300 people across a national network of offices and one of the UK's top 25 insurance brokers.

Locally it is a long-term sponsor of Nantwich Town FC and Nantwich Cricket Club and supporting grass roots causes is part of a mission statement wholeheartedly underlined by staff.

The Crewe workforce has fundraised for many causes in recent years including Save the Children, Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Support, MIND and RNLI.

They have staged coffee mornings, baked cakes, performed parachute jumps, run marathons and given up drink for a whole year for sponsorship.

They have collected toys and clothes for families in need and female staff happily donated a bumper load of bras for the Against Breast Cancer appeal.

Mr Christopherson added: "There's great camaraderie at County and genuine kind-heartedness towards the community where we live and do business. We can always rely on our team to deliver for charity.

"And with so many more local families in need this year due to the pandemic we knew there would be an extra special effort for St Paul's Pantry."
