Councillors to decide on layout of 400 home Crewe scheme
Planners are recommending Cheshire East gives the go-ahead for the design and layout of a 400 home scheme for Crewe.
Outline permission has already been granted for the 400 homes on the 60 acre site at Leighton to the north-east of Flowers Lane and to the west of Moss Lane.
Access to the development would be from Flowers Lane, from a new roundabout which forms part of the North West Crewe package of highway improvement planned for the area.
Councillors at Wednesday's strategic planning board meeting are being asked to approve the reserved matters application which deals with the access, appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the scheme.
In a report due to go before Wednesday's meeting, the planning officer states: "Highways have no objections subject to a few minor changes which can be conditioned, and while the PROW [public rights of way] team have raised some issues in relation to the diverted footpath, it is considered these matters can be readily addressed."
Minshull Vernon and District Parish Council has called for a planning condition to be imposed to ensure the emergency access onto Moss Lane is locked and only used by emergency services at an appropriate time.
The parish council states in the report: "Moss Lane is not suitable for any increase in traffic therefore the access point must be maintained for emergency access only."
The parish council has also requested that play equipment for younger children is provided in the play area.
The housing mix comprises two and three bedroom semi-detached houses, four bedroom detached houses, one bed bungalows, and one and two bedroom apartments.
The strategic planning board meeting takes place at Glasshouse, Alderley Park at 10am on Wednesday, July 14.
